Cant open GTA anymore

(This isn't really a bug but there isn't a topic for it)

So for the past couple days or so ive been having trouble opening SAMP , ill click on the server to connect, and it'll get past one splash screen, but when it comes to the second(the one with the white loading bar) The game crashes and i get this message:
gta_sa.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: gta_sa.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: gta_sa.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000dd5a3

This happens when i try to open single player too, so my guess is that its something with the .exe file
This started happening A day after i got a virus called XP Defender Pro, but i took care of the virus the same day,
Could be related, but probably not.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?

Try to reinstall Gta on your comp

Uninstalling is a last resort for me really, if anyone has had the same problem or knows about it and has an easy way to fix it, id prefer that.

If that doesn't work for some reason, and when you re-install it, it wont work.

Try making a new file, like '' Program Files 2 '' or something and install it there, worked for me.

Tried both of these and neither of them worked

Try finding a new crack that works with SAMP only or something...

I had this problem come up randomly a few months ago and i can't for the life of me remember what i did to fix it. I too tried all of the usuals, deleting gta.set, reinstalling san andreas and samp etc. and i have forgotten specifically what corrected it in the end.

Try right-clicking the SAMP icon and selecting 'run as administrator' or if that doesn't work, set the gta_sa.exe compatibility to windows 98 and try again.

Damn this is really bugging me.. im starting to give up hope

I tried that earlier yesterday and it didnt work either, but im downloading a whole new gta with a new crack now, so i hope to god this will work.

you should have started with downloading a crack only, it's usually 100-1000 times faster

I have had a similar problem too, you have to reinstall the whole game, and even SA-MP. I think there is no other way if nothing else works. I don't know what causes this problem, there should be something. Also, sometimes I could launch the game, but after 2-5 minutes I crashed. I am sure that reinstalling SA, and SA-MP would completely solve this propositon.

I already tried that and it didnt work, but i found a new torrent and im starting all over again, with a new crack and everything so it should work, and i should be able to play again in a few days!

Alright fellas,

im fuckin glad to report that i re-downloaded and installed GTA and i got it working now, all i need to do is download SA:MP again and im good to go!

if anyone wierdly looks at this amongst all the other "shit dont work" threads...

mine stopped working because i had a logitech media remote hooked up to my computer.

I unplugged the usb receiver and it worked fine, so try unplugging shit
