I have suggested this over and over yet I've never really found a reason why is there a 30 second long claim time as it, in my opinion, ruins the fun we have at points. If you think it's ok please post why.

This has been explained so many times. It is thirty seconds so you have to actually clear the point before you claim, even if someone spawns right at the point, they would only have enough time to run in and punch you a few times before you claimed it. I see no problem with the current timer.

30 seconds is too long 10-15 seconds for a fast paced point. Maybe make the time needed to hold 15 minutes or something.

I think the current /claim time is to long. I think that the timer should be put back to 19 seconds, I don't think thats to short of a claim time for the point not to run smoothly.

Basically a 30 second claim timer makes points too easy, imo. Whoever claimed first usually won as long as they spawned close to the point, and it promoted car ramming/punching/faggotry to win points, rather than fighting how men.

Hopefully if a respawn at hospital system is introduced the point claim times will better reflect their distance to the closest respawn point to make them fairer for both attackers and defenders.

It's not just the respawning/coming back. It's that the people who have the claim don't even shoot you unless you're claiming, they just run around instead.

I think this raises a different point, which is that having to stand still on an 'i' is a bad way to claim. Maybe Rachael would be interested in coding it as an area (maybe 15 units from the point) that must be stood in?

maybe scale the timer to how many players online

30 players = 15 seconds (min)
60 players = 30 seconds (max)

@Ari:Back when the claim time was 10 you didn't have a chance to interrupt the claim more than once and I don't think your idea would raise the usage of tactic but the usage of vehicle rams. just my opinion though, havent seen it working so I can't tell

are carbombs still allowed? thats the shittiest part about claming, getting carbombed with 5 seconds left and insta dying. somehow it changed from --> carbomb is extremely gay according to nurgle/ excessive use will result in punishment to carbombs are not against the rules and so now everyone does it.

You may have noticed I changed the claim time to 20 seconds.
I can change it anytime now without restarting.

I have already put in self reducing claim times, and win times, if you explain this area idea I will look into it.

then people will just camp the hospital and kill the other gang so they cant get back to the point. you wouldn't even need to drive to their hq to spawncamp them, you just armsdealer yourself a shotgun in the hospital and kill them as soon as you spawn!

Rachael, I think that what he is saying is that you should not have to type /claim on a point, but just standing within the point would start a timer, assuming there is no one from another gang in the point zone.

One problem with this is that someone would just find a place to hide within the point zone, stopping everyone else from claiming.

When point is vulnerable, check players within 10m of point once a second.
(If this is too CPU intensive, only start this once any player from any gang types “/claim” in the 10m zone and end once a gang makes a successful claim.)
Disregard tabbed players.
