Checks

This would be to add check books to the server. You could buy them at 24/7 for like 10k or something. The person writing the check wouldn't have to go withdraw anything from the bank, and would save the hassle.
The command would be /writecheck amountofmoney playerid/name - or something similar.
The person he writes it to can then either go to the bank and cash it in, or wait until the paycheck and the check will be added into the total.
Each checkbook would have 10 checks in them. Checks could be recorded just like dice/cards, keep them counted for.

I like the sound of this. Adds to more roleplay and saves a trip to the bank.

Decent idea, but I don't know if the general player base will know how to keep a balanced check book.

The problem with that is that when you go to cash a check from someone with zero funds left, you get no money because the check will bounce.

I have a feeling that this will bring more scams unless of course something is put in place to prevent a bounced check. Maybe make it so if the player that has given the check has no funds left he/she will go in debt after the check is registered, or the person that is giving the check can give no more than he/she has in the bank and when he/she does give the check he/she will loose the money as soon as the check is given so he/she doesn't withdraw all of his/her money at the last moment to screw the other person over.

Yeah, it might better to model it after the way a debit card works so that it withdraws money immediately and if you don't have enough it either puts you in debt or doesn't allow the transaction.

The problem with allowing it to put you in debt is that it can be exploited by moneyfarmers just writing checks on fake accounts to real accounts.

Yeah i can see how that would be bad.

Money farm account 1: writes check worth 10000000 dollers

Money farm account 1: hands it to main account

Money farm account 1: logs off forever

Farmining 5k all day! Easy, just increase the checkbook price to 20k at the store. This can just be there like to be there, if you don't want to get scammed only take checks from trusted people and cash from people you don't know if you can trust.

It'd just have to be made so you can't write checks larger than your account balance.

Again what's the point of this other than avoiding losing cash on death, which is an intended consequence?

You say "again" as if you had asked this before. Anyways, it's basically like tossing the extra 10k or whatever the price is to save yourself from that. Spend money to save yourself money. It can also be used in roleplaying shit.
It's kind of like a mobile /wiretransfer, in a way. Or a reversed wire transfer. I don't know somethign like that.

Awesome, a tiny 10k investiment so you don't lose 500k-millions, great idea. Might as well save the time coding this and just allow everyone to carry unlimited cash.

oh tell us great lorde chilliams how this has any sort of impact on you in any way. if you don't like it, don't use it? it's just a mobile /wiretransfer. might as well get rid of that too, ay?

If you don't see the impact this would have then there's really no sense arguing with you.

Explain again why it's a good idea to let people pay 10k (a pathetic sum) in order to completely avoid losing any money on death ever. Seriously. Think about it for thirty seconds. I have, and it makes me think of a world where nobody ever carries cash except newbies who don't know about checks, and cash loss on death becomes meaningless. You could buy a checkbook, keep 10k or so on hand for little stuff, and use the checks for any larger purchases. Yeah, you have to buy a new one after ten large transactions, but, as I said before, 10k is such a small number it doesn't make most players bat an eye. Any higher and it becomes out of reach of newbies, who are the ones who would benefit most from getting an easy way not to ever carry more than 15k.

It's a bad idea, period.
