Connecting from a DSL modem
Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get into the server from work.. I am trying to connect from a DSL modem, I can connect to other servers just not SZR, and when I get back to my hotel I can get on the server just fine from the WIFI they have, when I load up from work It keeps saying that I am connected but yet it never goes to the Character selection / Login screen .. just drops the connection and connects halfway again.. if somebody could help me out here that would be awesome, Thanks alot.
I left it there for about 5 minutes, and then finally it gave me a error " BAD NICKNAME ... blah blah blah " Im using a proper nick, so I dont know whats goin on .. . . my nick was " Ray_Parkour " (( copied and pasted right from the SAMP field. ... ))

Is their a router in between or is it just the modem connected straight to your computer? You say you can connect to other servers fine, are they using the same port, 6777?

ports are only affected when hosting a game.. not joining one

Correct. A good firewall will know if your using a proxy and still block it. Who do you work for that might not want you doing stupid shit while on duty?anarchcow wrote:Inaccurate.mattyy wrote:ports are only affected when hosting a game.. not joining one

Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
Yeah ports were the first things I thought about, I can connect to 6777, I found another server when I tried it, it connected fine, and Im the one who setup the hub and wireless dsl, were in the middle of no where, nobody is restricting my net use, hell I was playing WoW with my boss an hour ago haha!
Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
You should try setting your computer to DMZ and see if it works then. I know it sounds redundant but I had a router that was retarded (Belkin 54G) and port forwarding didn't do the job, had to enable DMZ on the router for my IP.

Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
Yeah I tried to enable DMZ, didn't change anything, I can access other servers, any other ideas Cheech? Thanks for the suggestion . . .
Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
stop being a jew and pay for better internet service
Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
I guess my only other suggestion would be to use a cord and connect directly to the modem. If it does work this way, at least you know where the problem is. If it doesn't, maybe try a different ethernet card, though you can connect to other servers fine so I don't really know...

Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
Im out in the middle of a field, where there is no internet service, trust me back at home I have the most expensive connection there is, this is just the work internet.OMP wrote:stop being a OMP and pay for better internet service
And thanks for the help Cheech, doesn't work but at least you tried ; )
Re: Connecting from a DSL modem
This is actually a problem I have with SA:MP as well, but I can get on SZR but most other servers I can't. I gave up trying to fix it when I found SZR worked. ^^
