"Here buddy, I have a spare gun for ya"

Post by Thomas_Boyer »

Is it possible to script an option for normal players to hand guns to other players? Say I have an extra handgun in my gunlocker, and my friend Terry needs a piece? Why can't I just hand it to him?

I don't think adding this feature would cripple a gundealer's worth. People will always buy guns from gun dealers, you can't get them from anyone else.

i've actually been thinking about adding a universal /give command, where you get an inventory of all the junk on you and you can give anyone anything.

The only concern is factions like LSPD, FBI and hitmen who have access to special weapons like deagles, sniper rifles and knives would be able to hand them off to people unless you could specifically code them to not be able to. Not to mention law enforcement doesnt pay for their weapons so it would be easy to give out m4s, spas12s, etc at no cost.

Kick them out then. One would hope anyone in law enforcement would roleplay it properly. Otherwise they're corrupt and should be jailed, and removed from the force. Simple.
13:25 Robert_Boyer Cas .. the story won't turn into Rho sex fanfic, but I'll start a seperate story just for you.. with that in mind.

This is a great idea, and definitely should be available.

I love this idea but my only concern would be the higher powered gangs giving out mass amounts of M4's and such to their members for battles against other gangs who might not be as blessed with a decent arsenal. It could make the high powered gangs unstoppable. Other than that, I love this idea.

Agreeing with you 100% If a real life LEO was to give away his weapons, he'd be fired and prosecuted.

They could do that now.

I realize that but they're mostly limited to mats on hand. My only concern with this system is that they'll be able to stockpile/poopsock 100's of M4's, AK's, etc.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I still like the idea and would like it implemented.

This doesnt change the amount of guns that are in the game. They still cost the same amount of mats and they still have to be bought and made so if a gang were to have 100 M4s and SPAS, they would have them regardless.

I would think this just makes it easier for the gun dealers if anything because guns are bought in bulk so their business can go up. They're bought in bulk by one person to hand out to the rest of the gang/faction so its all done at once.

In theory, yes, but one person can't carry twenty or thirty of the same kind of gun; a second M4 just fuses into the first one, in brazen defiance of conventional physics. So, in the end, a leader/supplier would stand there paying for guns, while the dealer hands them out to the various underlings/clients, one by one. Just like how it works, now. Gunlockers could be filled to the brim with different sorts of weapons, but then, they already could. This is just a little added flexibility to how your friends will benefit from you having several guns.

While I don't imagine that this will lead to the glut of stockpiled arms (which are still every bit as easy to lose as ever, by the way) that some are predicting, I do acknowledge that more guns will be floating around if this is implemented. However, in most cases, it won't even be a noticeable difference... with the notable exception of one hacker showing up and passing illegal weapons around willy-nilly, which people should know better than to use, anyway.

All in all, I'm feeling pretty good about this. Some mild pangs of apprehension, but overall, good stuff. Maybe it's worth a trial run?

Don't let Law Enforcement hand out guns, then they could plant evidence on people, which would not be cool.

It won't be a problem if there's a "/accept" step to it.
